Ventura County, CA  –  The laws regarding sexual contact between adults and juveniles are pretty clear: those who violate social, cultural, and legislated taboos do so at considerable risk to their personal freedom.

That reality seems to have had little effect on the recent behavior of 24-year-old Thousand Oaks resident Raul Garcia Gomez, who became the subject of intense interest on the part of the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department Thousand Oaks Major Crimes Sexual Assault Unit, the Thousand Oaks Intelligence Led Policing Division, and the Thousand Oaks Investigations Unit.

According to VCSD spokesman Detective Greg Webb, law enforcement interest in Gomez began in October, 2022 when a female juvenile informed her school authorities that she had been “sexually assaulted multiple times” by an adult male “known” to her. The immediately ensuing investigation indicated that “there were possibly additional victims.” Those alleged victims were then contacted by detectives who ultimately identified Gomez as the prime suspect.

On December 12th, deputies attached to the aforementioned law enforcement units showed up at Gomez’ residence, executed a search warrant, and made contact with him. A brief investigation at the scene ended with Gomez being taken into custody. He was then transported to Ventura County Jail, where he was booked on charges of Felony Forcible Lewd Act Upon a Child, Felony Unlawful Act with a Child 10 Years Old and Under, and Felony Kidnapping for Child Molesting. Gomez is currently held in custody on a no-bail hold.
