A months-long investigation into illegal firearm activity ended last week with the arrest of 23–
year-old Kristian Morfin, a documented gang member and Fillmore resident, who now faces a
stack of felony charges.
Morfin’s arrest came shortly after 8 a.m. on May 9, when investigators from the Fillmore
Investigations Bureau—joined by multiple Special Enforcement Units and detectives from the
Ventura County Sheriff’s Office—served a search warrant at his place of employment in Ventura.
According to Ventura County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Sgt. Jarrod Foote, Morfin had
been “under surveillance” from March through early May as part of a probe into unlawful
firearm activity.
The investigation culminated in a series of coordinated raids—one at Morfin’s
worksite, another at his Fillmore residence, and a third on his vehicle.
Search warrants were executed simultaneously “to ensure the safety of officers and the public.”
The search turned up a controlled substance, graffiti tools, and a loaded semi-automatic handgun
reported stolen—enough for detectives to slap the cuffs on Morfin with all due alacrity.
He was transported to Ventura County Jail, where he was booked on multiple felony charges,
including possession of a controlled substance while armed, grand theft of a firearm, unlawful
firearm transfer, and carrying both a loaded and concealed firearm in a vehicle.
Morfin remains in custody on a no-bail hold.
