“The Oceanside Police Department’s Gang Suppression Unit (GSU) is comprised of seven officers assigned to address gang issues and gang violence throughout the City of Oceanside.

Despite all of the challenges faced by these officers throughout 2020, these proactive officers, assisted with intelligence provided by the department’s Special Enforcement Section, were responsible for removing 42 illegally possessed firearms from the streets of Oceanside.

This number represents a 68% increase in the number of firearms recovered by GSU in 2019 (25).

This is one example of the outstanding teamwork displayed by members of OPD to keep the City of Oceanside’s streets safe.”
