OCEANSIDE, CA — The Oceanside Police Department has initiated an investigation following the discovery of a deceased individual on State Route 76. On April 26, 2026, at approximately 10:57 a.m., officers responded to reports of a non-breathing person located on the shoulder of the westbound lanes near Singh Way.
Personnel from North County Fire arrived at the scene and pronounced the individual dead at 11:05 a.m. Authorities have identified the deceased as 23-year-old Keith Lee Aaron. Following an initial assessment of the site, investigators determined that the death was the result of a fatal hit-and-run collision. Preliminary findings suggest that the incident took place between the hours of 1:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. on the day the body was discovered.
As of the current report, officials have not released a description of a suspect or a vehicle involved in the collision. The Oceanside Police Department Traffic Unit is managing the ongoing investigation in coordination with the Medical Examiner’s Office to determine the specific circumstances surrounding the event.
