Suspect Arrested for Attempted Homicide at Gas Station in Garden Grove

A Garden Grove man has been arrested for attempting to murder a man at a Shell gas station.

The reported shooting took place at about 10 AM on August 21, 2020, at the Shell located at 13202 Brookhurst.  Garden Grove police arrived to find that the victim, a mid-twenties man from Anaheim, had been shot twice in his upper torso.  He was subsequently transported to a local hospital and was said to be in stable condition.

Police were able to identify the suspect, 21-year-old Antonio Garcia, as well as his vehicle and current residence, which was located only a mile away.  Officers went to the residence in search of the suspect.  According to the release, “The residence was evacuated, secured, and the Garden Grove SWAT team executed a warrant related to the shooting, however the suspect was not located.”

Later on, the suspect’s vehicle was found near 1st Street and Euclid in Santa Ana, but the suspect was not inside.  “The suspect was seen in the area, leaving in different vehicle,” the release stated. “The vehicle was stopped and the suspect was taken into custody. A handgun similar to the one used in the shooting was found in the vehicle at the time of vehicle stop.”
