OC man yells ‘never again’ to jail, is arrested anyway

An Orange County, California, man is in prison after barricading himself in a Tustin area home on January 3rd.

Tustin Police Department officials arrested Jorge Aguilar, aged 34, at a residence on the 13000 block of Tustin East Drive in Tustin after being contacted by Orange County Probation personnel to assist with the detention of a probationer. In this situation, Aguilar was the supplemental suspect arrested.

Upon arrival at the residence, police spoke with family members and learned that Aguilar likely had a handgun on his person and that he had been claiming that he would never go back to prison, a Tustin Police Department statement said.

Police thus surrounded the house and activated the joint Irvine Police Department / Tustin Police Department SWAT Team. A check of official records showed that Aguilar had a $100 000 felony warrant for possession of a firearm and explosives.

After nearby residents had been evacuated, official crisis negotiators deployed and an hour-long standoff, Aguilar surrendered and police arrested him. A subsequent search of the residence found Aguilar’s handgun.
