evidence courtesy of cypress pd 4CYPRESS, CA — Officers with the Cypress Police Department recently arrested a suspect and recovered more than $13,500 in stolen tools and property yesterday following a commercial vehicle burglary investigation that utilized GPS tracking technology. The arrest stems from a recent spike in vehicle burglaries targeting high-value power tools from work vans.

The investigation escalated after a burglary victim informed police that a GPS tracking device concealed inside a stolen tool bag was actively transmitting a signal from a motel location in Cypress. An officer deployed to the area and initiated surveillance on the premises. During the operation, the officer observed a suspicious vehicle exiting the motel parking lot at a high rate of speed and initiated a traffic stop.

During the roadside contact, the officer observed the tracking victim’s stolen tool bags in plain view on the vehicle’s back seat. A subsequent search of the automobile revealed a large inventory of Milwaukee brand power tools stored within the trunk. Several of the recovered tools featured distinct identifying initials, which investigators successfully cross-referenced with reports filed by other local burglary victims.

Further investigation established that a significant portion of the recovered equipment had been stolen during a separate vehicle burglary reported on June 12, 2026. Law enforcement personnel successfully returned the stolen property to two of the affected victims.

The driver was placed under arrest and faces multiple felony charges, including possession of stolen property, commercial burglary, theft with prior convictions, and narcotics-related offenses. Additionally, the suspect was booked on an outstanding, no-bail Post Release Community Supervision (PRCS) violation warrant.
