Trio cruising stolen car arrested

NEWPORT BEACH – Three people were arrested early Saturday morning on suspicion of auto theft and other possible crimes after police spotted the trio cruising Pacific Coast Highway in a 2008 Volkswagen Rabbit that didn’t have a front license plate.

Linda Juniper, 42, Daniel William Jaede, 27, and Timothy Wayne Arnett, 36, all of Corona, were pulled over around 1:07 a.m. and police quickly discovered that not only was the suspects’ vehicle stolen, but so was its rear license plate.

A registration check of the vehicle revealed it had been reported stolen Oct. 13 from Newport Beach. A check of the license plate, meanwhile, showed that it had been swiped from a different car in the city of Corona.

According to police, they also discovered several other stolen items inside the car, including mail that had been stolen from the 2500 block of Point Del Mar in Corona Del Mar and an owner’s manual and registration papers that had just been taken from an unlocked vehicle in the same block. Six cell phones were also found and detectives were trying to figure out if those too were stolen.

The three suspects were taken into custody and each was being held on $20,000 bail.

Police encourage anyone that feels they may have been a victim of a similar crime, or has additional information regarding the three suspects, to please call (800) 550-NBPD. Messages can be left anonymously.
