SANTA ANA — An adult female called for an Uber ride on Thursday night but instead became the victim of a sexual assault.
Police say that 37-year-old Angel Sanchez picked up the victim in his 2016 Toyota Sienna and drove her to a street near to her residence. He then proceeded to sexually assault her.
After the crime, the victim ran from Sanchez’s van and called the police, who arrested him on Saturday, April 1st, at his Costa Mesa home. He is held on a $100,000 bail.
Because Sanchez has driven for Uber for over a year, SAPD says, “If you have witnessed Sanchez commit inappropriate or [predatory] behavior, call (714) 245-8412,” and then they added, “We remind all persons using online transportation services to use appropriate caution, particularly when traveling alone.”
