Juvenile suspect arrested on suspicion of attempted murder

A 17-year-old juvenile has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder in Chico.

Just before 5:30 PM on Wednesday, May 13, police dispatch began receiving calls about suspected gunfire in the area of Rio Lindo Avenue.

Responding officers located a person lying on the bike path with multiple gunshot wounds and immediately had them transported to Enloe Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Witnesses reported seeing a man running from the area after the shots were heard and described him as African-American and wearing a grey hoodie and black pants.

On the morning of Wednesday, June 17, officers identified and arrested the suspect, a 17-year-old juvenile, on suspicion of attempted murder. Police say the juvenile was in possession of an illegal AR platform pistol.

As of June 17, the victim, whose identity has not been revealed publicly, was reportedly in critical but stable condition.
