A Chico man has been arrested on suspicion of vehicle theft after one of his alleged victims tracked him down while on the phone with police.

Chico PD received a call from a resident on the 1300 block of Broadway Street just after 12:30 PM on Wednesday, May 6, who said his motorcycle had been stolen and that he and a friend were currently out looking for it.

The caller soon came across a pick-up truck with a trailer parked in a driveway on the 1100 block of Oakdale Street, and there he also reportedly found his motorcycle.

Officers responded to the scene and detained 24-year-old Austin Ingrassi, who police say was in possession of not only the caller’s motorcycle but a second one also believed to have been stolen.

Police also said the residence where Ingrassi and his friends were staying was an Airbnb, and the victim had caught up to him just before Ingrassi was due to check out.

He has since been booked at the Butte County Jail on two counts of suspected vehicle theft.
