Acquaintance Steals Television, Calls to Return it

Sometime during the early hours of June 21, 2020, a residence on the 200 block of North Second Street was burglarized.

The suspect forced their way into the home and took a large flat screen television and a DVD player. Coalinga Police officers responded to the home about 12:50PM on June 21 st.

The evening of June 21 st , the suspect contacted the victim. 22-year old Benjamin Velasquez of Coalinga and acquaintance to the victim, confessed his involvement in the burglary.

Velasquez, who doesn’t live far from where the burglary took place, agreed to return the television to the victim’s home.  The victim alerted police.

After Velasquez returned the T.V., responding officers arrested him for residential burglary, a felony.

He was booked at the Coalinga City Hall. As of the time of this writing, he is in custody at the Fresno County Jail with bail set at $30,000.
