Fatal shooting in Hesperia was over stolen drugs: Report

San Bernardino County deputies have arrested a man on suspicion of murder in connection to a shooting in Hesperia back in March.

Deputies arrived on the 16500 block of Fir Street just after 12 AM on Monday, March 30, where they found 36-year-old Valentin Aparicio sitting in a disabled truck in the bushes, according to a department press release. He had sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was later pronounced dead at a local hospital.

Homicide detectives from the Specialized Investigations Division took over the case and quickly connected the shooting to 47-year-old Jason Maston.

Detectives believe Aparicio had gone to Maston’s home to confront him over stolen drugs and the two exchanged gunfire, with Aparicio being struck multiple times.

Maston was arrested on Tuesday, April 14, on suspicion of murder and booked on $1M bail.
