An Ontario man was arrested for murder after he allegedly barricaded himself in a vehicle outside the home where the incident took place.

It took Ontario police negotiators about three hours to successfully remove Allen Kao, 50, from the parked vehicle. He was subsequently taken to a hospital for treatment of self-inflicted injuries and will be booked for murder once he received medical clearance, according to Ontario police.

The incident took place at a home in the 900 North block of Humboldt Avenue, around 1:22 PM on September 28th. Ontario police received a report about a domestic disturbance and arrived to find Kao inside the parked vehicle. “Kao was armed with a knife and was uncooperative with officers,” said Ontario police. “Kao claimed he had killed a female victim.”

Officers found an unresponsive woman inside the home. She was taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced deceased. Her identity has not yet been released, pending next of kin notification.

“Kao remained barricaded inside the vehicle for several hours, while [Ontario Police Department] negotiators attempted to de-escalate the situation.” At about 4:25 PM, Kao exited the vehicle and was found to have several self-inflicted knife injuries. He received treatment at the scene before being transported to a local hospital.
