Yuba City PD issues press release on IRS phone scam

Originally published via Facebook by the Yuba City Police Department:

“The Yuba City Police Department would like to warn community members about an ongoing phone scam.

If you get a phone call from someone saying that you have a warrant for unpaid taxes, it is a scam.

Do not purchase gift cards to pay your debt and don’t continue to talk to the person calling.

We have had numerous cases within the past week where unfortunately money was sent. Please share this warning with elderly family and friends as they seem to be most vulnerable.”
