The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office would like the public to view and vote in the Holiday Art Contest –

“Our Correctional Facility Holiday Art Contest is back and it’s up to you to decide the winner!

Each housing dorm within our jail was provided with a 2 ft x 2 ft piece of plywood and paint supplies, and tasked to create a holiday scene.

Now it’s your turn to participate! As part of this contest, the community gets to vote on your favorite painting. The winning dorm will receive popcorn and a movie as a Christmas reward.

To take part in this contest, simply “Like” your favorite painting here on Facebook. The paintings will be on display this weekend at Arts Alive in Eureka (12/7) and also at Arts! Arcata next week (12/13) – both events will offer in-person voting. Also, the paintings will be featured on the HCCF float in the Truckers Parade (12/14).

Voting ends on Monday, December 16 at 8 a.m.

The Holiday Art Contest is a great way to help lift spirits in the Correctional Facility during what can be a very hard season for inmates. This contest helps improve morale, which then reduces violence and improves behavior within the facility. This contest is one of many programs offered within our facility to encourage and assist inmates in their journey to rehabilitation.

Thank you for your participation!”
