The Kings County Sheriff’s Office reported a recent hemp theft within their jurisdiction:

“In the early morning hours of Tuesday, November 26, 2019 at about 0438 hours, the Kings County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a theft in progress from a hemp field in the area of the Avenal Cut Off and Orange Avenue. Upon arrival, deputies located the suspect vehicle leaving the scene and a traffic stop was initiated.

The vehicle was a 2000 Jaguar which had been reported stolen out of the city of Chowchilla. The three occupants were detained including the driver New Kee Xiong and the two passengers Nancy Xiong and Peter Vang.

During a search of the vehicle, a Hi Point 9 MM handgun was located. New Xiong was determined to have several prior felony convictions including vehicle theft and a felon in possession of a firearm. New Xiong was arrested for Weapons Offenses, Possession of Stolen Vehicle, and Forgery. Peter Vang was arrested for a weapon offense as well.

A 14 year old female had been left at the scene by the suspects and was later returned to her family.”
