DUI driver hits pedestrian, causing his death

REDDING – A traffic collision occurred at the Casino Club on October 27 at 1:45. Officers from the Redding Police Department responded to the 1885 Hilltop Drive location.

The incident involved both a vehicle and a pedestrian. Both the vehicle’s driver and the pedestrian were still on scene when officers arrived at the location. The injured person was taken to the hospital and unfortunately was later pronounced deceased.

49-year-old Anderson resident Jeffrey Brown, the driver of the involved vehicle, was determined to be driving under the influence of alcohol.

Brown was arrested for DUI causing injury and 2nd degree murder and booked into the county jail on those charges.

His bail was set at $750,000.

The victim was later identified as 67-year-old Donald Gene Kohls.
