Burglar hides in chicken coop, unsuccessfully

“On July 28th, 2021 at approximately 10:19 A.M. Redding Police Officer Jason Rhoads attempted to stop a truck for a vehicle code violation.
After running a red light, the driver fled to a nearby parking lot where he exited the truck and fled on foot. The passenger, Delmar Allen, remained in the vehicle and was detained.
CHP-Northern division Air Operations quickly spotted the suspect and assisted Redding Police Officers in locating him running through yards. Redding Police Officers, along with RPD K-9 Gunner, ultimately located the suspect hiding in a chicken coup in a backyard. He was identified as Daniel Hillemeier, 35 years of McKinleyville.
Officers determined Hillemeier and Allen were in possession of stolen property from two separate burglaries in Redding. Officer contacted the victims and were able to return the property.
Officers also determined the truck Hillemeier was driving was stolen. Both Hillemeier and Allen were booked into the Shasta County jail on multiple charges.”
