“On July 26, 2021 at 4:46 pm, a Nissan Maxima left with the engine running in the Food Maxx parking lot was stolen along with two dogs.
At about 5:41 pm, the vehicle was located on Hwy 44 near E. Stillwater Way by officers.
The suspect, later identified as Nicholas Michael Baragno, age 29 of Chester, fled in the vehicle.
CHP pursued the vehicle to Inwood Drive where Baragno was involved in a solo vehicle collision.
He was then taken into custody by CHP and RPD officers without incident.
Officers located a reported stolen handgun on the floorboard of the vehicle.
The dogs were recovered and returned to their owner along with their vehicle.
Baragno was booked into the Shasta County Jail on multiple felony charges.”
