CRESTON – An allegation came in to the San Luis Obisopo County Sheriff’s Office on July 9 from G. Wiemann Construction concerning a possible grand theft from the company.

The owner of the business suspected that his bookkeeper had stolen over $47,000 from the company.

The investigation that ensued confirmed the fact that 41-year-old Atascadero resident Joy Noel Wilde did just that, and more.

Apparently Wilde had taken a check that was made out to a vendor, changed the check and deposited the amount into her own bank account.

The investigation revealed other checks that Wilde had written and then deposited into her account.

On October 2 Wilde was “arrested for grand theft, embezzlement, forgery and attempted grand theft.”

In all, it is suspected that the suspect took and deposited 63 company checks totaling $957,000 into her personal account over the past three years.
