Paso Robles Man Arrested Following Hit-and-Run in Gas Station Parking Lot
SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA — A Paso Robles resident was arrested Saturday afternoon after allegedly striking a pedestrian in a gas station parking lot and fleeing the scene via Highway 101.
At approximately 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, a 62-year-old woman was struck by a vehicle in the parking lot of the Conserv Fuel station located on Santa Rosa Street. The driver failed to stop or render aid, immediately fleeing the premises following the collision.
Personnel from the San Luis Obispo City Fire Department responded to the scene to render emergency medical treatment. The victim was subsequently transported to a local hospital with moderate, non-life-threatening injuries.
Shortly after the incident, California Highway Patrol officers operating out of the San Luis Obispo area office located the suspect vehicle traveling northbound on Highway 101. Officers conducted a traffic stop and identified the driver as 36-year-old Joseph Perez of Paso Robles.
Perez was taken into custody without further incident and booked into the San Luis Obispo County Jail on the following charges:
- California Vehicle Code 20001: Felony Hit and Run Resulting in Injury
- Penal Code 1203.2: Misdemeanor Probation Violation
- California Vehicle Code 14601.2: Misdemeanor Driving on a Suspended License
Law enforcement officials confirmed that drugs and alcohol were not factors in the collision.
