Police are seeking assistance from the public after an elderly man was killed by a hit-and-run BMW driver in Garden Grove.

On September 1st, 2019, an 89-year-old Asian male was walking in a neighborhood near Dale Street and Stanford Avenue around 6:00 AM, when he was hit and killed by a vehicle. The driver allegedly ran a stop sign before the collision and never stopped to render aid to the man. The man was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Evidence—including video surveillance and debris found at the scene—shows that the vehicle is most likely a newer model white BMW. Police obtained surveillance video from one of the homes in the neighborhood, which revealed that the suspect vehicle sustained significant front-end damage.

Residents in the area said that the man was homeless and was seen walking in the area almost daily.

The suspect has not yet been identified. Witnesses to the collision are asked to call Garden Grove Police Department’s Traffic Investigator Paul Ashby at (714) 741-5823.
