CORNING – A citizen reported that on August 10th someone had broken into his vehicle and had stolen over $1,000 worth of tools. The vehicle was “locked and parked in his driveway.”

In a twist, officers with the Corning Police Department had recently contacted 36-year-old Derek Gullotto as he rode his bike in the area. Gullotto was living in the neighborhood and was on felony probation for theft.

Therefore, officers conducted a probation search at his residence. Inside they discovered “tools throughout his room.” Some of the tools were in a bucket with his name on it. In addition, a trailer on the property contained more tools.

It turns out that all of the tools were stolen from Gullotto’s neighbor.

Gullotto was arrested for burglary, stolen property, possession of heroin and paraphernalia.

At the same residence, three others were taken into custody and booked –

  • 40-year-old Ericka Bennett, on her warrant;
  • 34-year-old Christopher Martin, on his warrant;
  • 40-year-old Jamie Croff, booked for possession of heroin and paraphernalia.
