TRINITY COUNTY – A theft in progress call came in to the Trinity County Sheriff’s Office on Sunday April 7th. The source of the call was a construction site on Hyampom Road.
By the time a deputy arrived and investigated the scene, the suspect or suspects who had been there were gone.
The deputy also searched the woods nearby the scene, and there he discovered 26-year-old Hayfork resident Jason Colebank.
In the subsequent interview Colebank “admitted to having conspired with others to steal a large generator from the construction site.”
In addition, the suspect had stolen a trailer from Hayfork to tentatively help cart the generator away.
Colebank was arrested on charges of attempted grand theft, vehicle theft, conspiracy, and probation violation.
