SANTA CRUZ – On January 17th,  31-year-old Jonathan Saldana was arrested for felony vandalism and shortly thereafter released on his own recognizance.

Then on the morning of January 24th, Saldana was involved in another, more intense, incident.  He “threw an object at a passing motorist” in the 1100 block of Pacific Avenue.

The driver got out to confront the suspect, who then attempted to get inside the truck and drive it off.

An officer successfully stopped Saldana, who then got out of the truck and assaulted the officer with a pair of scissors. In addition, he was yelling, “shoot me.”

The officer did not shoot him, but instead arrested him. Two other officers were injured “in the process of detaining the suspect.”

Saldana now faces charges of vandalism, carjacking, resisting arrest, and injuring an officer.
