Check Fraud, Conspiracy Charges for Sonora Man

SONORA – SPD recently arrested a man for check fraud and conspiracy charges. 34-year-old Daniel Douglass Broadway now finds himself in custody for these charges as well as several felony warrants.

Between August 6th and September 12 three separate incidents occurred where the suspect “defrauded local victims.”

In all he allegedly stole over $2,000. More particularity, Broadway “stole several checkbooks from a retired veteran in Nevada.” Then he fraudulently passed some of the checks in Sonora.

At least three people reported receiving the bad checks. They later discovered that the account from which the checks came was closed.

When police discovered Broadway’s location, they enlisted the assistance of the Tuolumne Sheriff’s Department. They then arrested him in Tuolumne City.

Broadway complied with his arrest. In addition, “he was in possession of additional checks matching those recently passed to the victims.”

Broadway’s charges include check fraud, forgery, identity theft, possession of stolen property and conspiracy.
