SALINAS – Police finally arrested a second person for a deadly shooting during a May 26 quinceanera.

A quinceanera celebrates a girl’s 15th birthday. As the SPD press release declares, “It is certainly not a time for a shooting.”

Above all, it was a shooting in which someone lost their life.  Responding officers discovered Josiah Marquez in a car in the 400 block of Towt Street. He later died.

Numerous interviews of witnesses by investigators led to identifying Angel Fabian Iniguez as the prime suspect.

Law enforcemetn could not fiund Iniguez at first, as he fled across two other states.  However, they learned that the suspect had returned to Salinas.

Finally, law enforcement “arrested him at a home just across the street from where the shooting happened.”

It was our SWAT team that made the arrest – fortunately without incident. He was booked into the Monterey County Jail for murder.

The press release adds, “It is sad that such a wonderful day was soiled by such violence. We’re glad to have a suspect in custody.”

On May 31 authorities arrested 19-year-old Giovanni Solis from Salinas for murder, also in connection with this case.
