Monterey Resident Arrested on Firearm and Probation Charges in Marina
MARINA, CA — A Monterey resident was arrested by Marina Police Department Officers in late May on multiple firearm and weapon charges following a traffic stop.
An officer conducted the traffic stop in the 100 block of Reservation Road, contacting the driver, identified as 27-year-old Robert Jeffrey III. During the encounter, officers observed an axe inside the vehicle. A subsequent records check revealed that Jeffrey was on active probation, which included specific terms prohibiting him from possessing dangerous weapons.
Following the discovery, law enforcement officers conducted a search of the vehicle. During the search, officers located an unregistered, loaded 9mm “ghost gun” hidden underneath the driver’s seat.
Jeffrey was taken into custody and booked into the Monterey County Jail on several charges, including firearm-related crimes. Marina Police Commander Steve Russo noted that the department remains committed to community safety and removing illegally manufactured weapons from individuals who are prohibited from possessing firearms.
