Man flees, doesn’t get far DUI

On July 24 near midnight the Monterey Police Department was called to the area of Hannon and Toyon for a possible shooting.

Arriving officers encountered a group of males in an argument.

22-year-old Kevin Flores-Castillo drove away from the scene at a high rate of speed. On his route he hit a curb and popped one of his tires, and then hit a telephone pole, furthering damaging his vehicle.

On the 1000 block of Casanova got out of his vehicle and began walking away, but stop and complied when officers ordered him to stop.

Flores-Castillo was arrested for evading and DUI. At the Monterey County Jail his bail was set at $30,000.

No evidence of a shooting was ever discovered.
