Early Morning Assault and Brief Standoff Ends in Arrest

ANDERSON – During the early morning hours of May 14 the APD received a call about an assault. Officers responded to an area by Redbud Lane and Jason Court.

45-year-old Michael Shayne Terry broke into a residence and confronted two victims in their bedroom.  Terry said he would kill them and began hitting the pair with a baseball bat. As a result, he caused minor injuries.  Finally, he fled the scene.

The Investigation

At 7:00 AM officers found Terry’s vehicle in the 1500 block of Spruce Street at an apartment complex where he lived. Terry did not answer the door, his cell phone or calls from a Police car’s PA.

Shortly the APD had a search warrant and placed nearby Anderson Heights Elementary School on lock down.

Here comes the K-9

After continuing to ignore calls to surrender, Terry now how to face Aero the K-9.  Consequently, it didn’t take long once officers broke down the door. They found Terry standing there, trying to hold the door locked.

Terry’s charges include assault with a deadly weapon, assault likely to cause injury, threats and battery domestic violence.
