On the morning of September 20th, Gage Hurtado checked on his girlfriend’s son. Julius Lopez, who was going to turn 2 next month, was found unresponsive. When Hurtado could not wake him up, the mother came in but her attempts were met with the same results. Hurtado called emergency services to report an injured child.

The Fresno County Coroner’s Officer completed an autopsy which concluded the cause of death was blunt force trauma. 24-year old Gage Hurtado was arrested for the homicide. He has been booked at the Fresno County Jail and bail is set at $500,000. The motive and manner for hurting the toddler has not yet been determined.

At this time, no picture of Hurtado has been released.
