ANTIOCH – Two men are in custody for allegedly shooting at Pittsburg police officers on April 17 in the parking lot of a Costco store, located at 2201 Verne Roberts Circle in Antioch.

The officers were pursuing a vehicle that was reported stolen. The vehicle stopped, a gunshot was fired at the officers and the car sped away, but the driver and a passenger were quickly arrested after a brief car chase, police said.

Harrison Thomas, 48, of Concord, was charged with attempted murder, vehicle theft, evading an officer, and evading an officer while driving the wrong way. Thomas is being held at the Martinez Detention Center in lieu of $2.1 million bond.

Nathaniel Sheppard, 28, of Concord, who was recently released from prison from a prior conviction, is facing nine charges, including attempted murder, possession of prohibited ammunition, felony firearm possession, several drug-related charges, and violation of parole. Sheppard is at the Martinez Detention Facility as well, but is ineligible for bail.
