Teen Driver Arrested After Suspected Car Race and Crash

An 18-year-old woman has been arrested after she allegedly caused a car to flip and crash in a Pleasant Hill parking lot just after 12:40 a.m. Tuesday.

Police suspect that Paula Eddy Lazarov was racing another car westbound on Gregory Lane and travelling at a high rate of speed when the vehicles collided near the intersection with Kahrs Avenue, causing both drivers to lose control. Lazarov’s green Honda Civic was able to stop without hitting anything else, but the other car — a silver Ford Focus — ran off the road and landed upside down in the parking lot.

The driver of the Ford, a male whose age has not been released, suffered serious injuries and was taken to John Muir Hospital in Walnut Creek where he is currently in serious condition, according to police.
