“Bigrigg” Flees but is Ultimately Arrested

James Roy Bigrigg

SAN LUIS OBISPO – On Monday night the SLOSD attempted to stop a vehicle heading northbound on the 101 for an equipment violation.

In spite of red lights and sirens, the vehicle continued on its way and, after two minutes, pursuing deputies backed off and relayed their information to the California Highway Patrol.

The chase continued into Monterey County, where a CHP unit attempted to stop the vehicle, again to no avail.

Then the pursuit turned southbound on 101 and ended on eastbound Highway 46E where a deployed spike strip flattened all four tires of the fleeing vehicle.

40-year-old James Roy Bigrigg was arrested for failure to yield, driving on a suspended license for DUI and possession of drug paraphernalia.

His 44-year-old passenger was released with no charges.
