Man Arrested for Sexual Assault of Juvenile

The San Luis Obispo Police have a man in custody for allegedly holding a juvenile against her will and sexually assaulting her.

According to police, SLO transient Manuel Reyes Luevano, 48, was arrested last week. Police say the 17-year-old female victim was on a shopping trip in SLO with her family when she became separated and lost her way. She ended up asking Luevano for directions. Luevano was sitting on a park bench on the 1200 block of Morro downtown.

Luevano allegedly directed the victim toward a restroom and forced the victim inside. He allegedly locked the door behind them. While in the restroom, Luevano sexually assaulted the juvenile victim. The victim pushed him away and escaped.

After receiving a detailed description from the victim, police found Luevano the next day in the same area. He was positively identified by the victim.
Luevano is charged with attempted rape, kidnapping, false imprisonment and sexual battery and was booked into the San Luis Obispo County Jail with bail set at $100,000.
