Ex Assaults Atascadero Woman

A man was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly assaulting a former girlfriend and kidnapping her from her Atascadero residence and taking her to the Madonna Inn.

According to Atascadero Police, they received a report of a physical altercation early Tuesday at a residence located in the 5400 block of Olmeda Avenue.

Officers say when they arrived a man reported his girlfriend’s ex-boyfriend forced his way into the residence. The man told police he was assaulted by the suspect , Craig Sterling, 42, of Thousand Oaks,

Sterling allegedly kidnapped the woman and forcibly took her to the Madonna Inn.

Officers found Sterling and the kidnapped woman after Madonna Inn staff alerted police of a situation

Sterling was arrested on suspicion of kidnapping, burglary, battery and domestic violence.

Sterling was booked into SLO County Jail. His bail was $100,000 bail. However, after posting bond, he is no longer in custody.
