Man Charged with Beating, Killing Ex-Girlfriend’s Father

INGLEWOOD — 33-year-old Edward Fernando Ruiz allegedly went to his ex-girlfriend’s home on March 10th and assaulted her.

Police arrived but Ruiz had fled.  The female victim went to the hospital.

But then Ruiz returned and beat the victim’s 69-year-old mother and 64-year-old father, Genaro Pastore, causing him to die because of injuries inflicted on him.

The suspect climbed on a roof and engaged in some sort of useless standoff for two hours before being arrested with the help of a K-9 officer.

Ruiz faces charges of murder, attempted murder, resisting arrest, and domestic violence. He has prior convictions for second-degree robbery (2010) and first-degree burglary (2005).

The possible maximum sentence is life in prison. Bail is set at $4.29 million.
