SANTA CRUZ — Santa Cruz PD detectives are working with the FBI to obtain leads in a case of “smash n’ grab” robbery at the US Bank on Morrissey Boulevard last Friday.

At around 1:05 PM, a young man — described as being in his late 20s, standing between 5’8″ and 5’10”, dressed in all black with a hood around his head, black sunglasses, and dirty white shoes — entered the bank, jumped over the counter, and brandished a handgun at employees. He demanded they put cash in a black clothing bag and soon fled with an undisclosed amount of money.

Fortunately, nobody was injured. The suspect was seen running eastbound before getting into a vehicle and driving away. Anyone with information that may lead to the suspect’s identity or arrest is encouraged to contact Santa Cruz PD at (831) 420-5820. For reference, the case number is 17S-01620.
