Police Investigate Two Burglaries in Santa Cruz

CaptureSANTA CRUZ — Police are seeking the public’s help in solving two recent break-ins which occurred two days apart. One suspect was caught on CCTV on Laurent Street and two others were caught breaking into a city-owned shed at Delaveaga Park.

On January 21, a suspect was filmed on CCTV prowling around Laurent on the city’s west side. He was seen wearing the same clothing each time in each video. Both the city police and west side patrol are coordinating to identify the suspect.Suspect 1 Stolen Property

The second incident, occurring just after 6 AM, involved three suspects using a battery-operated concrete saw to remove a door and steal items from an office and a storage shed at Delaveaga Park.

Saw and Suspects at 1st DoorCThe suspects were wearing dark clothing with gloves and masks over their faces. They made off with various landscape equipment including Stihl brand 20-inch chainsaws and air blowers. They’ve also reportedly caused around $2,000 worth of property damage.

Police are asking that the public keep a watchful eye and contact the Santa Cruz Police Department’s Investigation Department (831-420-5820) if anyone recognizes the suspects.
