BART Bandits Return to Vicinity of Crimes

Bradley Gentry

FREMONT — Detectives and several police officers positioned near the Fremont BART train station waited for bandits to return, after several armed robberies occurred in the same vicinity. Police weren’t disappointed, because two suspects did return… for their arrests.

Officers picked up Bradley Gentry, 24, and Letisha S. Lewis, 18, both of Fremont, on October 26, in a parking lot near Mowry Avenue and Parkside Drive. Both were given free rides by police to Santa Rita Jail.

Police recovered evidence linking Gentry and Lewis to all five crimes. Gentry matches the description of a man who committed four armed robberies and one attempted armed robbery. He was also seen driving a vehicle matching the description of the getaway car used for the robberies.

Lewis is suspected of being Gentry’s accomplice. Gentry is charged with four counts of robbery, one count of attempted robbery and conspiracy to commit a crime. He is being held for $600,000 bail.

Lewis is charged with two counts of armed robbery and conspiracy to commit a crime. She is being held for $200,000 bail.

All the robberies occurred at night. On September 21, the first victim, a 35-year-old, was hit on the back of his head with a handgun and robbed of cash and his phone. Two similar robberies occurred on October 14, when a 32-year-old woman and a 22-year-old women were robbed of cash. Two more robberies were reported on October 20 and 24. Some of the victims watched the bandit flee to a waiting car.
