DUI Suspect Crashes into Fire Hydrant after Chase

MILPITAS — On April 24 at approximately 2:53 am, the Milpitas Dispatch Center dispatched officers to the scene where a reporting Milpitas Police Officer attempted to stop a DUI driver on the 900 block of E. Calaveras Boulevard.

The MPD Officer watched as the driver of a four door sedan drove on the wrong side of the road, against on-coming traffic. The officer pursued the driver for five miles until the driver crashed into a fire hydrant near a residence in San Jose.

The driver of the vehicle was not injured from the crash that disabled his vehicle.  Ronald Enriquez Jr. was identified at the scene and arrested for driving under the influence of a controlled substance.  According to the Milpitas Police Department, a firearm, ammunition, 16 grams of methamphetamine and other drug paraphernalia were located inside Enriquez’s vehicle.

Enriquez was booked into the Santa Clara County Jail for driving under the influence of a drug, carrying a concealed firearm, felon in possession of a firearm, felon in possession of ammunition, possession of methamphetamine for sales, transportation of a controlled substance, possession of controlled substance while armed with a firearm, evading police by driving on the opposite direction of traffic, and driving with a suspended license.
