Compton Woman Gets Popped for Drug, Motor Violations

INGLEWOOD, CA—Some folks drive you crazy, some folks are driven crazy and some folks drive right into crazy.

Latona Lanette Simpson, 28, was apprehended on Sunday, March 1 at approximately 12:40 a.m. by Inglewood police officers. She was picked up at the corner of East Manchester Boulevard and East Spruce Avenue—just two blocks from the famed Fabulous Forum and the Inglewood Park Cemetery. The section of roadway on which she was arrested is a curved commercial area just two blocks east of the Inglewood PD.

The Compton resident was charged with a number of driving and drug violations: taking a controlled substance into a jail or prison (4573PC), possession of a controlled narcotic substance (11350HS), driving with a suspended license (14601.1AVC), failure to stop at a red light (21453(A)VC), driving at unsafe speeds (22350VC) and reckless driving at high speeds (23103(A)VC).

Bail for the woman, who police records reveal is a laborer, totaled $40,470. The single largest amount was $25,000 for taking drugs into jail; the smallest amount was $70 for driving at unsafe speeds.
