Officer-Involved Shooting Investigation Continues, Information Sought
NORTH HOLLYWOOD – The LAPD North Hollywood Division Police Department named Officer III Humberto Franco as the officer in the recent officer-involved shooting.
Additional information is being collected and analyzed in the ongoing investigation of the January 26th, 2:03 AM vehicle pursuit of an unreported stolen vehicle. When the vehicle stopped, 21-year-old Montel Glover exited, then fled on foot. During a short chase by officers, the suspect brandished a handgun in their direction.
The result was announced, “An officer-involved-shooting (occurred). Glover, who was not struck by the officer’s gunfire, fired two rounds as he continued running from officers. The officers established containment of the area and Glover was taken into custody without incident when he attempted to walk out of the perimeter. A loaded semiautomatic handgun was recovered in close proximity to where Glover was taken into custody. No officers were injured during this incident.”
Responding LAPD’s specialized Force Investigation Division (FID) interviewed witnesses and collected forensic evidence. The Inspector General representative monitored the scene investigation.
LAPD announced, “The complete investigation will be reviewed by the Chief of Police and the Board of Police Commissioners and the Office of the Inspector General to determine the thoroughness and accuracy of the investigation and whether the use of deadly force complied with the LAPD’s policies and procedures.”
