Man Vandalizes Sheriff’s Station

San Luis Obispo Sheriff’s deputies have arrested a man for allegedly vandalizing the sheriff’s north patrol station in Templeton Saturday afternoon.

According to the sheriff’s office, they received a dispatch regarding a family dispute in the parking lot of the north patrol station around 1:10 p.m. The suspect, later identified as Juan Josue Salgado, 20 of Atascadero, broke a window at the patrol station building and then climbed onto the station’s roof.

Once Salgado reached the roof he started vandalizing roof-mounted equipment and ventilation. When deputies arrived and contacted Salgado, he refused to come down and a standoff ensued.
Using a CHP helicopter, CHP ground units and a sheriff canine, deputies confronted Salgado on the rooftop.

Salgado attempted to flee by jumping from the roof to the ground where he was immediately arrested without incident. The entire standoff ended at 2:25 p.m. Salgado was arrested, transported and booked into San Luis Obispo County Jail for felony vandalism and resisting/obstructing arrest. He is being held in lieu of $15,000 bail.
