Fight Lands Man in Hospital

San Luis Obispo police arrested an Arizona man after he beat another man on early Monday morning.

According to SLOPD, officers received a call about a fight in progress near the intersection of Calle Joaquin and Los Osos Valley Road.

The first officer on the scene found the victim, Cody Bovee, 28, of SLO, unconscious and face-down in the street.

Bovee, who was knocked unconscious and suffered significant facial injuries, was transported to Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center for medical treatment.

Witnesses told police two men had been arguing in the AM/PM market at the intersection.

The two men then began fighting once they went outside the store. Police do not know what started the fight.

During the fight the suspect kicked and punched Bovee around the face and head which caused serious facial injuries.

Police were able to identify and locate the second man. He was identified as Gregory Gonoch, 27, of Buckeye, AZ.

Gonoch was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon and mayhem. He was also treated at Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center for injuries to his hands.

According to police, Gonoch and the victim met earlier in the evening through a mutual friend.

Police say Bovee is in stable condition.
