Maybe They Shouldn’t Close Hollywood Park After All

INGLEWOOD, CA—There is a lot of talk about a new massive condominium project or possible NFL stadium that will replace the historical Hollywood Park horse-racing track, and that may have been what set off one small man.

Julio Enrique Garcia, 37, a professed jockey who stands a relatively towering 5’4″ and tips the scales at a somewhat staggering 150 lbs., was arrested on Friday, November 11 at approximately 8:30 p.m. The charge made was “inflicting corporal injury.” He was picked up along the 4100 block of West 103rd Street near the corner of 103rd and Prairie Avenue, which is just three blocks from the soon-to-be defunct racetrack. (The track has its last race in mid-December.) The Inglewood resident’s bail was set at $50,000.

An Inglewood police spokesperson would not comment on whether Garcia was flogging a dead horse and appeared to have looked at this reporter as if he should get outta town before sundown.
