Salinas Police use Taser on Uncooperative Man
SALINAS—The Salinas Police arrested 35-year-old Armando Armenta of Salinas after he become belligerent and entered a home on Napa Way in Salinas.
On Sunday, February 3, the Salinas Police responded to a disturbance call on the 500 block of Napa Way. When Officers arrived on the scene, they were directed to Armenta, who at the time was outside a residence.
“He was there at the residence and started causing a disturbance and was asked to leave,” Salinas Police Officer Miguel Cabrera said. “He left the residences but was still hanging around outside creating a problem.”
When Officers attempted to talk with Armenta he became belligerent and refused to comply with the officers. Armenta ran inside the house and began arming himself with several knives from the residence.
After arming himself with the knives Armenta ran into the backyard of the residence, still uncooperative with the officers. After a few tense moments with police, he ran from the backyard of the residence for several blocks before being located in another backyard of a home on Trinity Way.
The still uncooperative Armenta tried once more to get away from the officers but in an attempt to apprehend him police used a taser and took him into custody without further incident.
He was transported to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries. He was then transported to the Monterey County Jail and booked on charges of trespassing and resisting arrest. He was also found to be on probation, so he was also charged with violating his probation.
“He was taken to hospital for treatment because it is our common practice that anyone that is tased should be checked out by medical personnel,” Officer Cabrera added. “ He also had scrapes and bruises from climbing the fences in his get-a-way attempts.”
