Traffic Violation Leads to Half-Pound of Drugs

A few hours into October 23rd, a police officer was patrolling the area of Cecil and Cain Street in Visalia.

The officer spotted a vehicle driving with no tail lights and signaled for the driver to pull over, which he did.

As it turns out, the driver, 44-year old Jason Eugene Ashford, and his passenger, 29-year old Ashely Renne Lewis, were wanted for outstanding narcotics related warrants.

When the officer searched their vehicle, a half-pound of methamphetamine and cocaine were found. Along with the drugs, the officer found evidence of drugs sales included packaging material, a digital scale, and currency.

The pair were arrested and booked into the Tulare County Pre-Trial facility.

Ashford faces multiple narcotics related charges as well as possession of firearm by a felon and person unlawfully possessing ammo. He remains in custody with bail set at $150,000. Lewis also faces numerous narcotics related charges in addition petty theft and a probation violation. She also remains in custody with bail set at $160,000.
