SAN JOSE – The San Jose Police Department has made an arrest in a recent string of indecent exposure incidents.

According to San Jose Police Officer Gina Tepoorten, “Between September 25, 2018, and October 15, 2018, during the late afternoon hours, the unknown suspect approached victims while driving his vehicle.”

Three incidents of indecent exposure were reported by separate victims, in which the suspect exhibited the same behavior. The man would ask the people walking near him for directions and when they approached near his window he would reveal his true intentions by exposing himself to the unsuspecting persons. The incidents primarily occurred in the Parkview Park area, near Snell and Branham roads in San Jose.

The suspect reportedly always drove a late model, silver, hatchback, Toyota Matrix and was being described as Hispanic or Samoan male, 20-39 years old, medium to heavy build, black or brown hair in a ponytail, thick black or brown mustache and beard, last seen wearing a two-tone shirt, dark khaki pants, and black wrap-around sunglasses.

The suspect, 25-year-old Sergio Villaverde Jr., was later identified through the community’s involvement and taken into custody without incident.

Anyone with information about these cases or other cases involving the suspect is asked to contact Detective Mark Riles or Detective Tony Vera of the San Jose Police Department’s Sexual Assaults Unit at 408-277-4102 during business hours (8:00 AM to 5:00 PM). Dial 9-1-1 after hours.
